The beginning of the October School Holidays saw our U16 Division 1 and 2 National Tournaments take place in Auckland and Hamilton. This year we had a massive eight teams entered into the tournament. We had some close wins, tough losses and a lot of fun over the four days. A big mention to our U16 Maroon Boys who came away with the U16 Boys National Championship after taking out Marist Red in the final 10 – 7. Special mention to Mathew Mihaljevich who was named MVP of the tournament.

Below we have a small writeup from Matt L, Theo and Alistar of the Maroon Boys team.

“We had a great U16 season, it’s always fun to train hard with your mates and accomplish something together.

Being able to spend loads of time together training and socialising meant we played as a team in the pool. The team had a good understanding on how we all play.

 Having the national tournament in Auckland was a little different for us this year but we made the most of it by meeting early before games, celebrating Ted’s birthday and having a lunch together.

It was awesome to finish with a trophy and we were stoked to do it with James, the boys and our parent support.”
