NZWP Awards Ceremony 2023

The NZWP Awards were held on Saturday 18th March at the AUT Millennium – home of NHWPC.

The Tindall Foundation sponsored award for Coach of the Year went to our very own CHELSEA GEARY. Berry (a member of the NZWP board) stated that there had been more nominations for Chelsea than any other coach before her. It came through very clear that Chelsea has a coaching style that players admire and they work hard to achieve the best possible results for her as well as themselves. Her dedication to each player within her teams has encouraged many players to pursue this sport further afield and have a passion for the sport due to Chelsea’s commitment to her team. Chelsea spends hours working on programmes and new skills to ensure her team are continually developing their game. She builds confidence in her players at the same time as showing respect and encouragement to all. Congratulations Chelsea, we are proud of your achievement.

The Benefitz award for Volunteer of the Year went to our very own Megan Brown. Megan has been a fixture at our club for over 15 years. In Berry’s speech he mentioned the hours of volunteer work she has done at NHWPC – managing many men’s teams over the years and being a vital member of the committee. Megan also works with the NZ Junior Men who will be travelling to World Champs later this year. If you ask anyone at our club about Megan, the words they use are committed, well balanced, amazing attitude, kind and loving to all. As a club we are so proud to run the U12 Rowan Brown Tournament alongside Megan each year. The event has grown year by year and Megan can always be found around poolside helping wherever she can. You are one in a million Megan and we are so proud to see you add this award to your mantlepiece.
