TO PLAYERS AND PARENTS OF U14 BOYS AND GIRLS

Over the past week the club have held trials to establish teams for the 2016 season. The selectors have asked the club to hold off naming the teams due to the talent in this year’s U14 age group. Many players are on the verge of making a higher ranked team but the selectors want to watch them trial again. All selectors have advised the two highest ranked teams this year will be stronger than ever before within our club. They believe both teams have the ability to make top 3 in the country and therefore feel they must give the players further opportunities to show themselves in the pool.

Whilst the top ranked teams are stronger than ever before it is also the same in all our U14 teams. Many of the players in our other teams have been playing water polo within our club for many years and hence the call to ensure we can offer all players the opportunity to play this game with North Harbour Water Polo Club.

We are excited to announce that we will have 5 boys and 3 or 4 girls teams this season – our highest ever number of teams. The club coaching team have advised that teams named for Pan Pacs (2 in boys and 2 in girls age group) will be named but these teams are not necessarily the teams for the NZ Age Group Championships. Teams for our National Championships will be named after Pan Pacs.

We will release the squads that will train together shortly but please note Tuesday morning 6.45-8.00am will see our U14 girls training and Thursday 6.45-8.00am will be our U14 boys training. Please note every training you attend there will be selectors and coaching staff watching. We also advise some video footage will be taken where necessary. It is important the best players are chosen throughout the age group and we hope by taking these steps you will appreciate the announcements at the end of the month.

On behalf of the club, we do apologise for the inconvenience in a change of training times but it is essential the right people make the right teams and this is of great importance to our selectors. With over 100 players trialling we want to be fair to everyone but more importantly correct in our selections for 2016.

We will also be looking at offering sponsorship to our teams this season – further information will be available shortly.
