Water Polo Coach


 

WATER POLO COACH – based at AUT Millennium

 

North Harbour Water Polo Club is seeking expressions of interest from a suitably qualified Water Polo coach.

 

  • This person will be required to develop technical skills throughout all age groups including senior players.
  • He/She will be required to prepare our teams for NZ National competitions with the primary goal of gaining top placings in the championships.
  • This person should have at least 5 years of advanced coaching experience and have worked with elite players throughout many age groups throughout this period.
  • This person would need to have succeeded in and continue to want to work with elite athletes with the goal of NZ National results and if  involved in the NZ High Performance Programme, the coach will be required to work with the primary goal of international results on a team and/or individual basis.
  • You will need to work with young developing coaches who show an avid interest in becoming a coach, and teach the technical skills required for this game as well as prepare them for coaching at local and National competitions.
  • Your role will include coaching several age group teams to include Senior, U21 and U18 age groups to a high level. There may be the need to coach further age groups.

 

Key Criteria to be met:

   •Attendance at evening trainings as per training schedule provided by club and providing assistance as coach
  •Setting Coach planning meetings for team / individuals / development coaches when required
  •Setting specific programs for all training sessions including development clinics throughout the year
    •Attending all games to include one off tournaments, National League and Age Group National Championships as coach

•Providing pathways for our club coaches to enhance their role as club / national coach

 

You will report to the Programme Director as well as the North Harbour Water Polo Club Committee.

 

The club envisage the coach to come from a professional background of Water Polo with at least 5 years experience – this person must have the knowledge to engage our members with new skills and a high standard of development and understanding of the game as a whole. We would see a person who has coached at a high level within the international water polo community coming on board to support the club. You must be self motivated, capable, easy going and someone who is keen to immerse themselves in the culture North Harbour Water Polo Club has created over the years.

This position will be full time (35 hours per week) with a salary to compensate for the role. A vehicle is provided.
